Rumors about OBJ’s return to the Big Blue were all over the place. Though he has never directly hinted at such a move. A few days ago, OBJ made a subtle suggestion about a few big names to settle in. The Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Baltimore Ravens were the prominent features on the list.
The Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills rounded up what was a brief list at that. This threw fans into a hysterical frenzy, and predictions of matchups with the dominant QBs in some of these teams ran rampant. The notable team missing from this list was the Giants.
Speculations about the reunion gained a foothold when Beckham Jr. visited the Giants’ facility in New Jersey. Although the likely intent was to visit receiver Sterling Shepard, who is also suffering from an ACL injury. But on Friday, the question finally emerged. And in typical fashion, head coach Brian Daboll gave a very cryptic answer, fuelling fans’ hopes for OBJ’s return.
“I’d say that [G.M.] Joe [Schoen] and I talk a lot about a variety of things,” Daboll said, “players, adding players, workouts on Mondays and Tuesdays. We’re always trying to improve our roster in any way that we can.”

OBJ’s NFL career began with the Giants when they picked him 12th overall in the 2014 Draft. And his first three seasons with the G-Men established him as one of the best receivers in the league. His career-best season came in 2016 when he recorded his first and only season with 100 receptions. He also recorded 90+ receptions and 1300+ yards and 10+ touchdowns in the first three seasons in the NFL. An ACL injury ended his 4th season, but he made a decent comeback in his last season with the Giants. His 5th year saw him make 77 receptions for 1,052 yards.
The Giants, on the other hand, can really use a receiver who delivers. Their existing corps is already infected by the ‘injury bug’, and it could provide OBJ with the opportunity to establish himself as the chief man in the offense. Although the Giants are 3-1, they’ve made this possible with their main players not matching expectations, and with not-so-healthy QBs.
