Julian Edelman condemns Kanye West
Julian Edelman has hit out at Kanye West, saying that mental health is not an excuse to hate anyone. “Mental health is a serious issue and needs to be at the forefront of the American dialogue. It’s also not an excuse for hate. Hate is a disease just like every other, except that words can spread it. Speak up, not down,” Edelman said on Twitter.
The former New England Patriots wide receiver also shared a photo. The photo had a few lines of text on it that said,” I hate being antisemitic. It’s awesome”.

Edelman is a Jew himself and a multiple Super Bowl champion. He played for the Patriots for 12 seasons. During his time in New England, Edelman won three Super Bowl titles under HC Bill Belichick. He was the MVP in the 2018 Super Bowl. This was the sixth Super Bowl title for the Patriots and Edelman’s teammate Tom Brady.
Everything since Ye’s remarks
Edelman is not the only star to condemn Ye’s rant. Adidas canceled a $1.5 billion deal with the rapper after the controversy. With this, Ye lost his billionaire status. The Scholastic Play-By-Play Classics axed the Donda Doves, the high school basketball team Ye backs, from their tournament. The statement from them clearly stated that the decision was “in the light of recent anti-Semitic statements by Kanye West.”

Many athletes have cut their ties with another Ye-backed company, Donda Sports. Donda Sports is a sports agency led by former NFL star and one of Ye’s friends, Antonio Brown. Brown joined Donda Sports as President back in February after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers terminated his contract. The remarks have also affected this company.
Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald and NBA player Jaylen Brown have ended their association with the sports agency. The reigning Super Bowl champion, Donald released a statement with his wife, communicating the decision. The statement said that antisemitism was the exact opposite of how they choose to live. The Boston Celtics star also released a similar statement.

With all those things happening, the remarks have certainly been a costly affair for the rapper.
