And seven years ago, one particular moment featuring Tom Brady certainly stood out.
Only a select few athletes in the US have reached the lofty heights that Brady has scaled. When it comes to patriotism, the GOAT of football needs no introduction. It was all so different seven years ago. TB12 was still on the hunt for his 5th ring, and his now-successor, Patrick Mahomes wasn’t even drafted into the league. Brady savored the offseason after inking a $41 million deal with the Patriots. And to take it up a notch, he raised the bar of his patriotism by posting a photo that left the whole NFL community awestruck.
On the 4th of July, the football GOAT shared the picture, accompanied by a caption that playfully declared, “Haters gonna say it’s photoshopped.” In the snapshot, he confidently struck a pose with both hands raised, adorned by two majestic bald eagles. One of the eagles appeared to be in a fierce, spirited cry, while the other seemed relaxed and composed.

Right from the start, it was evident that the eagles were photoshopped onto his arms. The absence of shadows and Brady’s lack of protective gear necessary to handle an eagle’s claw gave it away. Nevertheless, it served as a lighthearted jest, showcasing his playful side while commemorating Independence Day. Brady concluded his caption with a warm message, saying, “Happy 4th of July everyone!”

Much has transpired since his amusing post, from parting ways with the Patriots to retiring from football altogether. While he did make a surprising comeback from retirement once before, this year he has made it abundantly clear that he will not be returning to the field. Nevertheless, he maintains close ties to the league in various capacities. Recently, he acquired a minority stake in the Raiders and continues to engage in frequent interactions with current athletes.

Just a few days ago, Brady teamed up with Stephen Curry to good-naturedly tease Mahomes ahead of their impending showdown. The duo playfully exchanged jabs at the two-time MVP in the comments section on Instagram. It’s not without reason, as Brady had already emerged victorious against Mahomes in the same tournament a few years ago.
