One 32-year-old legendary defensive tackle has defied all odds to become a successful athlete. Jesse Williams, who hails from Australia, grew up loving sports and wanted to make a name for himself. After dominating the college football scene playing for Alabama Crimson Tide football, he was drafted into the NFL in 2013.

Although he spent most of his time as a pro footballer on the reserved bench, he still made a huge impact on the defensive roster that led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2013. Very recently, Williams appeared on a podcast where he shared his life adversities and medical complications that cost him a kidney.

The Super Bowl champ has kept himself out of the spotlight for a while now. After his life struggles made numerous headlines, he finally decided to join a podcast to discuss his life journey that took him from Australia to the US. He also became the first Australian to win the Super Bowl in the same year he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately, his career was abruptly interrupted by the formidable challenge of stage 3/4 kidney cancer.

A clip from his appearance was shared by ‘The Man That Can Project‘ podcast on their Youtube channel where Williams can be seen talking about his passion for the sport. He then shared how he chose Sports as his identity instead of art or culture and was very passionate about it until he met with his life-threatening complications. Williams said, “Stage 3/4 kidney cancer was quite serious and quite quick.” in the video as he was very little time to react after discovering the cancer diagnosis. He then added how quickly his kidney was removed, by adding, “I had to get my kidney removed in like three days

The SB champ revealed a quote by his dad that fueled his journey to success

Williams overcame great adversity to reach where he intended to be. It’s a long journey from living in Australia and then moving to an entirely new country with an entirely different cultural mindset. The defensive tackle also revealed how his father nudged him in the right direction after pulling him aside and giving him a speech when he was in the eighth grade. He revealed his father’s quote by adding, “When I started grade eight, my dad pulled me aside, and said, ‘The choices you make from here on out, shape them in you’re going to be rest of your life’.
