Patrick Mahomes’ bumper contract with Kansas City Chiefs is the biggest NFL sports deal of all time, by a long shot. The reigning Super Bowl LIV MVP will reportedly earn north of $450 million over the next ten years.
The Chiefs are now aiming to replicate what New England Patriots did with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady since 2000. To do that, Kansas GM Brett Veach moved quickly to tie down Chris Jones in a long-term contract.

Chris Jones has been with the Chiefs since 2016. He has grown to become an essential cog in Kyle Shanahan’s backline. He recently agreed to a four-year contract worth $85 million, of which $60 million is guaranteed.
“I had a feeling the deal was going to get done. When Pat’s deal got done … Pat text me and said let’s get this thing done. I left some on the table, let’s get this thing done. That’s when I had the security that me and [the Chiefs] were going to work something out. I was confident in that,” Jones said as per NFL Network.

Chris and his agents knew we loved him, Chiefs GM Brian Veach told reporters

“I go back to just being able to express our commitment to Chris [Jones] and just getting through the free agency period and the pandemic, while also understanding that we’re navigating Patrick Mahomes’ contract.

“They trusted us and believed that once we had all of the information that we needed and got some things in order, we were going to address Chris Jones. One of the things that got taken the wrong way was our commitment and appreciation for Chris Jones and how the Chiefs feel, and this and that. But the whole time, Chris and his agents knew how much we loved him and that we were going to do absolutely everything we could to keep him here,” Veach said in an address to Chiefwire.com.
