For the Green Bay Packers, it is going to be a whole new beginning in 2023. After relying on their no.1 QB Aaron Rodgers for so many years, his exit will surely put them in a state of worry. Rodgers confirmed his intentions of playing with the New York Jets in the coming season. After dedicating all his career to the Packers, it seems like the QB is ready to move on to a new home. But in the midst of these circumstances, there seems to be a silver lining for someone who has been in the shadows of Rodgers.

Jordan Love will be looking to solidify his name as the next QB1 for the team. Packers WR1 Christian Watson shared some interesting insights about the whole situation on the Rich Eisen show.

During an interview on the Rich Eisen show on YouTube, WR Christian Watson talked about his relationship and build-up with Jordan Love. The Packers drafted Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. But the QB did not get a lot of room to shine because Rodgers was the no.1 pick for the Packers for years. Now that Rodgers is looking to leave his long-time station, it might open the door for Love to solidify himself as the fan favorite for the Packers.

Watson mentioned that after he arrived at the Packers, he spent a lot of time with Love. He met Love outside of meetings and practices to understand the quarterback mindset. He said that he and the other younger guys then met Jordan Love weekly, going into the late mid-season. They had a lot of developmental stuff going on at the team that led to their relationship strengthening even further. Could this mean that Love was already a contender for the QB1 spot last season?

Watson said, “I spent a lot of time with Jordan Love actually. Whether it was meeting outside of meetings and practice and stuff to get that playbook down and get a quarterback thought process on what’s going on. Us younger guys had meetings with Jordan Love pretty much weekly going into the later weeks of the season. We had quite a bit of younger guy developmental stuff that we did early into the season and I think that relationship and that connection is strong already.”

While Love might not have shown his full potential to earn the vote of confidence from the Packers, he will be ready to show fans that he is worthy of that spot in the starting lineup. The Packers drafted Love in 2020 as the apparent prince to the throne of Rodgers. But they haven’t used the young QB a lot of times since Rodgers decided to continue playing for the Packers last season. But now, after A-Rod announced his wish to move to the Jets, it seems like the window of opportunity has opened up for Love. And the team has been training the young QB in the same direction ever since they drafted him along with youngsters like Watson.

In the 2022 season, Love only had 1 touchdown and 195 yards of passing. But this will not stop the young QB from being the heir to the QB throne for the Packers after Rodgers’ legacy. Fans will be excited to see how the young QB blooms in the coming days. Maybe another future Hall of Famer in the making? Only time will reveal the destiny written for Jordan Love.
