NFL franchise Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was complimentary towards his incoming rookie wide receivers. Among the newcomers, the Packers’ 7th-round pick Samori Toure seems to have caught his eye during practice. The former Nebraska Cornhuskers wideout was a standout performer while leading the team in receiving yards and TDs last season.

During his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers stated, “They definitely look the part. All three of the guys we drafted obviously have the physical gifts. Obviously, Watson and Doubs are bigger, but Toure’s got a lot of stuff to him. There’s no better teacher for them on what NFL ball is gonna be like than going against our three corners. Those guys are gonna get a real quick initiation to the NFL.”
Rodgers was talking about his rookie wideouts following recent questions surrounding a weakening of their WR room.
The departure of star WR Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason has raised some concerns. The 4-time league MVP admits banking on his first-team WRs like Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Sammy Watkins to mentor the rookies.
Are Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in trouble without a star player at the WR position?
The addition of the rookies like Toure has added depth to the roster as the qualities of these players remain unknown. The loss of long-term WRs like Adams and Marquez-Valdes Scantling and their production presents a challenge for the current wideouts. However, the Packers have shown a great eye for recruiting young players, and Rodgers help elevates their game in the system.

While Rodgers sees potential in the newcomers, the special mention for Toure hints at exciting times for the franchise. Toure made 12 appearances while recording 46 receptions, 898 receiving yards, and 5 TDs.
The numbers are promising as the Packers hope to turn these young prospects into legitimate superstars like Adams.
As another NFL season approaches, the franchise and its fans get even hungrier to witness progression in the upcoming season. The 2022 NFL campaign presents Rodgers with another potential opportunity to capture his 2nd Super Bowl title in Wisconsin.
