Seven years ago, Colin Kaepernick put everything aside to stand firm in his battle against police brutality and ensuring racial equality in the country. While his ambitions may not have come to fruition as yet, the decision eventually cost Kaepernick his football career. But after years of waiting on the sidelines for redemption, Kaepernick has finally told the world his final goal in his football journey.
While he may have earned global acclaim and fame for his resolute stand in 2016, that’s not how Kaepernick’s journey started. The QB began as the star signal caller for the San Francisco 49ers and even led them to a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. But while his off-field stances have since taken over his career in the ensuing years, he’s not ready to call it quits as yet after he sent out a message to every fan and team in the NFL.

Kaepernick’s attempts at redemption in his football career have been marred by his off-field controversies over the years. Today, Kaepernick finds himself without a team, although not for lack of effort. Kaepernick has made several attempts to find his way back onto NFL rosters but has suffered rejection after rejection by teams for reasons that he believes stem outside the realm of football. After years of struggling, however, Kaepernick has a final request to the NFL.
“I’m going to keep pushing, I’m going to keep fighting for it, because I know I can step on the field and play… I just want the opportunity to come in, show what I can do on the field. Judge me based upon that, not the political bias that you have,” Kaepernick said in a recent interview.
His comments come just days after he was called in by the Raiders for a workout but eventually rejected in favor of QBs like Jarrett Stidham. For Kaepernick, it is not about ideology or personal beliefs; it is about being judged solely on his skills as an athlete. But the real question is, what does Kaepernick’s football future hold?

Is there still hope for Colin Kaepernick in the NFL?
When Colin Kaepernick received the phone call from the Raiders early last month, the QB must have been over the moon. The workout marked the first official NFL call-up for the signal caller since he last saw an NFL field in 2016. The only other ray of hope for Kaepernick came from a private workout in 2019, which caught the eye of fans and the media, but, alas, didn’t spring up any contract offers.
With time ticking on his athletic prowess at the ripe old age of 35, there isn’t much time left before all hope of a comeback fades away from Kaepernick. While some sensations like Tom Brady were able to maintain prolonged careers due to their greatness, the reality of teams aiming to land an aging QB who hasn’t stepped onto a professional football field in nearly a decade is feeble. The clock is ticking, and it may wind past the golden hour for Kaepernick if a contract offer doesn’t come about soon.
