Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks are having a good mid-season run. After the latest loss to Brady and the Buccaneers, Seattle is 6-4 in the season. However, Geno is still having an MVP-level season, and the Seahawks plan to offer a contract extension to their QB.

The Seattle Seahawks were dependent on former QB Russell Wilson for a long time. However, after DangerRuss left for the Denver Broncos in the off-season, backup quarterback Geno Smith stepped up and has a major contribution to Seattle’s mid-season form this NFL season.
Geno Smith has run a balanced offense with the Seahawks and in a few months, he has gone from Russell’s backup to the face of the franchise. And it’s fair to say that Geno has earned himself a long-term contract extension from the Seattle Seahawks.
For the longest time, Geno has been on yearly contracts with the Seahawks when he was second to Wilson. However, not all fans believe in Smith’s ability in big situations and think the Seahawks should perhaps reconsider.
Geno Smith’s contract extension idea doesn’t get unanimous support
Most Seattle Seahawks fans think Geno Smith is their quarterback for the future. The 32-year-old is fourth in ESPN’s QBR rankings for quarterbacks in the league. Geno has thrown for an impressive 2199 yards this season with 15 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions after Week 10 matchups.
The Seahawks QB has developed incredible chemistry with wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Together they sit at the top of the NFC West Division, one of the toughest divisions in the league with big names like the San Francisco 49ers and reigning Super Bowl Champions, LA Rams. Seattle fans are confident about Geno Smith being their first-choice QB for the 2023 season and love the idea of a long-term contract extension.
Happy for Geno, it’s been a long road to get to this point but he never gave up and kept it pushing.

I’m happy for Geno. Any player that can hang around for years and finally can put up a good showing is awesome.

Comeback player of the year already secured for Geno. He is definitely in the running for MVP as well. Very well deserved hard work definitely pays off

However, some fans think that the Seattle Seahawks should preserve their capital and instead hope to find a franchise quarterback in the draft. Some feel Geno Smith is not consistent and could end up harming the franchise in the long run.
Worst thing that could happen to the Seahawks. Weird middling QB has a good year in his twilight, in a bizarre year in the NFC. Sea locks in $$$ and doesn't get a pedigreed QB for the future dooming the franchise mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 in Munich’s Allianz Arena and improved to 5-5 for the season. Geno Smith had a decent 275 yards of throwing, with a 69% pass completion rate and 2 touchdowns. These numbers were enough to beat the Arizona Cardinals last week. Except for a red zone fumble, the problem against TB12’s Buccaneers wasn’t Geno Smith but the lack of a rushing game. Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III only rushed for 17 yards in 10 attempts. Compared to that, QB Geno had 22 yards of rushing on 4 attempts.

The Seattle Seahawks dropped to a 6-4 record after the loss in Germany. Geno and the Hawks enjoy their bye next week. They face the 2-6 Las Vegas Raiders in their next regular season fixture. Can Geno Smith follow Russell Wilson and bring the Seahawks their second Super Bowl?
