When it comes to holding his players accountable, Deion Sanders makes sure to lay down the law. The former NFL CB, who is known for his dynamic and personalized style of coaching, has been turning heads in the recent past. Moving from Jackson State to Colorado was something that many did not see coming. But Sanders is on his way to making a mark. Even before his move to Colorado, he was always committed to raising the bar higher, and he made no exceptions, even for his own children.
During his time at Jackson State, the former CB ensured that rules were religiously followed. While many would expect coaches to go easy on their children, Deion Sanders showed no favoritism while coaching his son Shilo at JSU. And when the latter broke one of his fathers’ rules, he paid the price for it. Here’s the breakdown of what happened.

Deion Sanders revealed that punctuality was one of the rules that were set in stone when it came to the way he managed his team. He said, “I had a rule that if you [sic] late, you ain’t playing. Now you better understand that if my meeting starts at 7 o’clock, they better have their butts in the seats by 6:45, I’m probably going to start by 6:53, 6:55 okay? Consistently.” The former CB emphasized that he was training young stars for the journey ahead of them and not just the game. But, when his own son failed to follow the rules that he set, Sanders offered no special treatment.
He said, “My son came after the break that we left getting ready to play the championship game, came in at 6:55. The whole team was seated already in place and he walks in. I said, ‘Get out.’ He didn’t play in the championship game because my rules are my rules.” To make his point, Sanders added that his rules would not be bent for anyone.
The head coach added, “And I can’t change it just because you [are] my son and you have my blood.” JSU was headed to the SWAC Championship game. And because of his own tardiness, Shilo Sanders sat out of the big game. Here’s how fans reacted to the older Sanders’ move.

Most people have no discipline these days and are super soft. Growing up in martial arts if we were late we were punished, period.
