The San Francisco 49ers finally met their match after a 12-game win streak. And it came last night against the number one-seeded Philadelphia Eagles. However, the red and gold had their share of injury concerns that majorly hampered plans. And George Kittle summarised it perfectly.
The Niners’ tight end had little to do with the unfortunate scenario that unfolded for the highly talented Niners’ side. Losing Mr Relevant Brock Purdy early in the game cost them hard. And their fourth-choice QB couldn’t do much either.

Brock Purdy was on a 7-0 win streak since getting the starter role following Jimmy G’s season-ending injury. However, that came to an unexpected end in the first quarter of the 31-7 loss. Purdy suffered an elbow injury when he got hit on the right arm. However, he stepped back in later when fourth-string QB Josh Johnson suffered a concussion in the third quarter.
In the post-game press conference, Kittle stated the obvious. On being asked how it felt having to deal with losing two quarterbacks during the game, Kittle said, “How does it feel to lose an NFC Championship game because I don’t have a quarterback? Pretty shi**y.”

However, Purdy couldn’t continue. And ultimately it came down to fullback Kyle Juszczyk and running back Christian McCaffrey, who was next in line for the quarterback role. CMC even attempted a pass down the field. But sadly, he didn’t connect with anyone.
Kittle also had a pretty uneventful night

The San Francisco 49ers’ number-one-ranked defense in the league couldn’t stop the Eagles’ rushing offense. George Kittle only had 3 receptions on the night over 32 yards and no scores. Additionally, his rush game was almost absent, with only 4 yards to his name.
The Philadelphia Eagles played almost flawless football. Philly QB Jalen Hurts even set the NFL’s all-time record of 15 rushing touchdowns as a QB (including postseason). And the Lincoln Financial Field echoed with ‘fly Eagles fly’ chants as the Birds advanced to their second Super Bowl appearance in 5 years. And they won the Lombardi the last time they reached the final.

Deebo, Kittle, and CMC will think about next season and go over the footage to see what went so calamitously wrong. In the meantime, the Eagles will prepare for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs who beat Joe Burrow’s Bengals last night to clinch the AFC crown at Arrowhead.
