San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle loves it when billionaires are forced to shell out millions of dollars. Especially in the NFL, when his friends and colleagues get their due share of recognition in the form of a max-signing. Kittle sent the congratulations over to veteran tackle Lane Johnson on the latest good news.

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed the offensive tackle for one more year on a massive guaranteed contract. And Kittle recently explained why that calls for celebrations. Simply put, it’s hard to earn a huge contract in the NFL. That’s why Kittle doesn’t mind if players get paid more than him; just that they get paid.

After center Jason Kelce, 4x Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro right tackle, Lane Johnson became the second Philly o-lineman to stay onboard. According to Mike Garafolo, Lane signed a $33.445 million one-year extension with $30 million guaranteed, keeping him under contract through 2026. It wasn’t just the fact that Lane Johnson only allowed 2 sacks in the last two seasons and only 18 sacks in the last nine years that earned him this big-money deal. The Eagles also cleared a sweet $9.4 million in cap room this year with this restructured extension.

George Kittle heard about the good news and commented with a couple of ‘money bag’ emojis on Instagram.

And this is no surprise after he explained the reason behind his joy every time he hears about an NFL player signing a substantial guaranteed contract.

Kittle had an interesting discussion about the NFL pay structure during his appearance on comedian Theo Von’s podcast, ‘This Past Weekend’. This month, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones signed a massive $160 million 4-year contract extension with $82M guaranteed for the next two years, according to Over The Cap. “That’s more than my entire contract,” Kittle said, speaking about his 5-year/$75M deal signed in 2021.

I love it when guys in the NFL get paid because it’s really hard to get paid. I don’t care who they are. If I think they are a good player or they are a bad player. Awesome. You got paid. Good for you. You’re set for life. Just don’t squander it, please” Kittle addressed it further.

And his emojis on Lane’s post were certainly in line with this thinking. Lane Johnson now gets on the top-paid RT list alongside newly acquired Chiefs OT Jawaan Taylor, who came in on a 4-year $80M deal, falling just short of Lane’s 4-year/$80.75M contract. Good for the big guys!
