The Seahawks are happy having Geno Smith on the team after he pulled off a remarkable career turnaround in the 2022 season. But they also want to pounce on the draft opportunity they have this time around. The franchise has a fifth overall pick in the 2023 draft and according to head coach Pete Carroll, they aren’t averse to signing a top QB prospect.

“We are totally connected to the quarterbacks that are coming out. This is a really huge opportunity for us. It’s a rare opportunity, we’ve been drafting in low 20s for such a long time you just don’t get a chance with these guys. So, we’re deeply involved,” Carroll told a press meeting at the NFL combine.
