Before the start of the 2022-23 season, Seattle Seahawks traded their star quarterback, Russell Wilson, to the Denver Broncos, for a record $240 million. In return, they received the young American quarterback, Drew Lock. However, Lock did not get into the first team straightway, as The Hawks head coach, Pete Carroll, decided to show faith in Geno Smith.
Safe to say, as Wilson’s replacement Smith did not let his coach down, as he has been outstanding this season, leading in the completion rate. Apart from that, he has outperformed, Russell Wilson, as well. Incidentally, the Broncos have the same record as the Seahawks after four games.

On the other hand, Russell Wilson, had 5 TD passes with 1,031 yards thrown so far, in the season. His completion rate was also not great, as he completed only 61.1% of his passes, with a 91.1 rating.
Notably, Smith’s completion rate is the highest in NFL history by any quarterback after four games. Also, his passer rating ranks third in the NFL right now. Safe to say, the Seahawks fans certainly are not missing their star quarterback, Russell Wilson, this season. Fans reacted to the statistics on social media as well.
Fans are in awe of Smith’s performance
After seeing the tweet from CBS Sports, many fans reacted to the statistics and hailed Smith’s performance. One fan wrote, “Seahawks fans haven’t forgotten how everyone said the trade was terrible for the Seahawks.”

Better write back soon 🧐

Meanwhile, one fan felt that Smith’s run has been historic.
Ok yes it’s natural to want to compare the two but can we not do this the whole season. Can we let this be it? Geno will regress and Russ like usual will come on strong as the season goes on. Compare Geno to everyone else cause currently this run is historic https://t.co/Wdz8DKicRT

However, some fans are not liking the comparison between Smith and Wilson.
Can we please stop with the Geno vs Russ comparison? Ask Seahawks fans who would they rather have, Geno, Stroud, Levis, or Young. https://t.co/JemvCwUdjw

One fan stated that these statistics will not last till the end of the season.

Interestingly, one fan gave credit to the head coach of the Hawks, Pete Carroll, for turning Smith into one of the best quarterbacks.
If this continues through the entire season, Pete Carroll is the QB whisperer and his system is amazing….execuse me while I continue my flagelation for ever doubting the king https://t.co/d1zVG7qJdp

Despite Smith’s great performances, the Seahawks defense has been terrible this season. In Week 4 game against the Lions, they let them score 45 points and the Hawks had to score 48 to win the game. In the Week 5 game, Seahawks will face the Saints and the Hawks fans will be hoping for Smith to continue his terrific run.
