There isn’t a debate over the fact that this year’s NFC Championship game is going to be a fun match-up. When Jalen Hurts faces Brock Purdy on Sunday, one should remember that the duo had met each other under similar circumstances where the stakes were high. However, experts believe there is still a huge gap between the abilities of Purdy and Hurts, as the Niners quarterback is statistically inferior.
No doubt, Brock Purdy has been the find of the season. He rose to relevance after taking charge of the Offensive unit from an injured Garoppolo. But Hurts happened to showcase one of his best performances so far, contending for the MVP award.

Joy Taylor of Speak on FSI discussed this matter in a recent episode of their talk show. “Gap between Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts is massive,” Taylor said in her opening note.
All other panelists acknowledged her viewpoints. They gave Hurts an additional point over Purdy since the Eagles quarterback has more experience playing in the league. The 2022 season has been equally successful for both athletes.
While Hurts finished the regular season with a record of 14-3, Purdy, who took over the charge as a starter in Week 13, helped the Niners maintain their winning streak. He wrapped up the season with a record of 13-4. Moreover, the rookie is yet to lose a game. Hence the stakes are quite high because he won’t let this perfect streak break anytime soon.
Interestingly, the rivalry between Purdy and Hurts dates back to their college days, exactly 1,177 days ago, per Yahoo Sports. When the Lowa State Cyclones locked horns with the Oklahoma Sooners in a Big 12 showdown in 2019, the game turned out to be a high-scoring thriller.

Although Hurts went home winning the game, a young Purdy stunned the opponents with his unreal comebacks. He narrowed the 20-point deficit to a single point and posted a score of 40 against the Sooners’ 41.
