We are at the final stage of this season’s NFL campaign, and so far, things have been super interesting. Sport always objectively has one winner. While some come close, some are too far to even see the trophy. The ones who are far, often start planning early for the next season.*cough Russell Wilson cough*
Player trades and free-agent transfers will be a hot topic in the next few months, and why not? Is Russell Wilson to be dropped by the Seahawks? Is Chris Godwin and JC Jackson too expensive for their teams?
For starters, take the case of Russell Wilson. The Seattle QB has been really struggling with the Seahawks this season. Not only have his performances dipped, but his team is also at the bottom in the NFC West. The future Hall of Fame passer and the Seahawks currently lack a lot of chemistry and seem disinterested in each other. With Seattle aiming for a rebuild, letting Wilson go might be their best bet to save up funds.

Another top player who might make a move is Chris Godwin. The Wide Receiver has been in super hot form this season and certainly deserves a pay raise. Currently, the Bucs star is making $15.983 million. But thanks to him playing on a franchise tag in 2021, the WR is expected to have an extra 120% mark-up next year. With Bucs having 27 undecided free agents this summer and around $33 million in cap room, retaining the Wide Receiver looks to be a tough ask.
Like Chris Godwin, New England Patriots CB JC Jackson is also in a similar situation. While the Patriots may not be as economically cramped as the Bucs, his performances simply haven’t been enough for Bill Belichick to greenlight an improved paycheck.
