Going into his 15th year as a Running back, Jets would be Gore’s 5th professional team. He spent his 2019 Season playing for Buffalo Bills. He rushed for 599 yards and 2 touchdowns for 166 carries. It was during this season he became the NFL’s top three all-time leading rusher.

Before Buffalo Bills, Frank Gore played under the guidance of Adam Gase with Miami Dolphins. He inked a deal worth $1.1 Million. Throughout the season he played closely with Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage, sharing the backfield. Coincidentally, his first match with the Dolphins was against the Jets. The 2018 season was not up to Gore’s standards. The veteran could only manage 722 rushing yards and 156 carries. This was the first time in his career where he didn’t record any rushing touchdowns.
What would be Gore’s role in Jets?
Going into Season 2020, coach Adam Gase was determined to secure a running back. Gase saw a detrimental need to lessen the load of Le’Veon Bell. Bell, after signing with the Jets last season, could only average 3.2 yards per carry.

“I do think we have some guys that can help maybe lessen the load on [Bell] to where it’s not all on him,” Gase said on an interview with ESPN “Hopefully, we can get some of the younger backs to where we can make a good one-two punch to where we can really excel instead of feeling like it’s just all on him all the time.”
As per Gase’s remarks, it seems as if Frank Gore would be working closely with Bell. His expertise will surely help Bell in regaining his form. However, while Gase wanted “younger backs”, it is surprising to see him opt Gore, a 36-year-old running back! This would be Gore’s third time playing under Gase’s guidance. The duo first met in the 2008 season, when Gase was appointed as an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers. He started all the 14 games played in that season. The standout veteran running back, ran for 1036 yards in that season, before finishing with a total of 6 touchdowns. His stint with the Bills showed the world that he still has some football left in him. The Jets would give him an opportunity to bring his experiential learning to the field!
