The former running back of the Pittsburgh Steelers passed away on December 20. Franco Harris, who famously caught the ‘Immaculate Reception’, was 72 years old. To honor him, the Pittsburgh International Airport made the most respectful gesture.

In 1972, the Steelers advanced to the playoffs for the first time in forty years. But it seemed like they would lose that game against the Oakland Raiders. Pittsburgh chased the Raiders, who were 7-6 in the fourth quarter of their opening-round playoff games. Then a miracle happened when QB Terry Bradshaw threw a deep pass to Frenchy Fuqua. Despite the ball rolling off Fuqua and Raiders’ safety, Jack Tatum. Harris snatched the pigskin just when it was about to touch the turf. He scampered with the ball and made a game-winning touchdown.

This incredible moment is forever seized in a statue that is on display at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
