The Super Bowl LVII finals still echo in the minds of NFL fans. While the Kansas City Chiefs will continue to rejoice about their historic win, the Philadelphia Eagles ponder over the fact that they could have emerged as champions in the showdown. But despite the outcome, both Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts put up an incredible fight on the field, and have gone on to solidify themselves as QBs who have a lot to prove in the league in the coming days ahead.

The Eagles even went on to agree to a massive five-year $255 million deal with Jalen Hurts after the iconic battle, as they further solidify their hopes and faith in their 24-year-old QB. But money may not be able to buy the happiness of winning the Lombardi trophy, as Hurts still suffers from the PTSD of their Super Bowl defeat against the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl LVII showdown was quite the spectacle between the two teams. The Eagles showed dominance in the first half, creating a 10-point deficit between them and the Chiefs. But Patrick Mahomes led his team resiliently from the third quarter, catching up with the deficit and going on to win the match by 38-35. And it seems like Jalen Hurts still ponders over the night of their defeat and the comeback of Mahomes.

During a recent interview on the Sports Take podcast, Jason Kelce opened up about how Jalen Hurts continues to “beat himself up” over the possibility of making better plays during the Super Bowl final. He talked about how his QB blames himself for not playing better, and how Kelce himself has to assure Hurts that he performed well. He told Hurts that he had “the best performance by a QB in the history of a SB”, and that Hurts actually did the best according to his capabilities.

Maybe Hurts should give himself some credit, like Jason Kelce said, as it was the best performance by a losing player in a Super Bowl game.

Hurts made an incredible impact despite the loss

There is a reason why the Eagles went forward to offer their QB a $255 million deal. And that is because Jalen Hurts continued to prove his worth for the team with each consecutive season. Despite losing to the Chiefs at the Super Bowl LVII finals, Hurts became the first NFL player, be it the regular season or playoffs, to throw for 300 passing yards, and make a run for 70 yards with three touchdowns in a single game. Not only this, but he also broke Steve McNair’s QB record for rushing yards in a Super Bowl and also equaled former Denver Broncos star Terrell Davis’s record of rushing touchdowns in a single Super Bowl game.

So, even despite losing, Jalen Hurts managed to showcase his capabilities as a QB for his team. And now, fans will be waiting in anticipation to see him continue his record-breaking performance in the upcoming season ahead as well. Maybe make way for another shot at a Lombardi trophy? It will be a matter of time to see what lies in the future ahead for the 24-year-old.
