The entire football world was shell-shocked on January 2nd, 2023. With the atmosphere of what felt like a playoff game brewing, the football world came to a stop when Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and had to be stretchered out. Over the next few months, Hamlin made a startling recovery as the indomitable human spirit of Hamlin overcame the greatest hurdle any human can face. 

But beneath the headlines of Damar’s recovery story, lies the true heroes of the medical miracle. The doctors and nurses who provided extreme and unhindered emergency care to Damar Hamlin were the true heroes behind the Bills Safety’s recovery. And Hamlin has certainly not held back with his outpouring of gratitude to everyone involved in his journey back to life. 

Damar Hamlin honors bravehearts behind medical miracle

After a week in emergency care, Hamlin was transferred back to the Bills’ home city in Buffalo. He continued to receive care at the Kaleida Health Center where he was rehabilitated back to fitness. Grateful for the healthcare professionals who saved his life, Hamlin recently made a visit back to the Kaleida Health Centre in Buffalo.

In his IG story with the Buffalo Bills organization, Hamlin spoke to the nursing staff during his visit, thanking them for the tremendous work that they put in to save lives. With over 28 million healthcare professionals working tirelessly across the globe, Hamlin’s gesture was definitely a great way to honor the tremendous efforts of the doctors responsible for saving his life. In his own words from his IG post, “I got a different type of love and appreciation for the nurses all across the world.” 

The Birth of the Chasing M’s Foundation

Chasing M’s is a non-profit charitable foundation founded by Damar Hamlin way back in 2020, during his days as a student-athlete. The football star has always been one to give back to the community. After the outpouring of love and support that Bills Safety received following his collapse, he once again starts his mission of contributing to charity. 

Through the Chasing M’s foundation, Damar will donate the $10 Million dollars which were raised by fans and the community during his medical emergency. All of the charitable work by his fans and community will be put to use by Hamlin’s Chasing M’s foundation, in another incredible gesture of humanitarian goodwill.
