Bruce Barnum, the head coach of the Vikings, expressed his respect for North American and the opposing head coach while acknowledging the game’s intensity. He noted, “It got a little out of hand, but we tried not to let it get that way.”

The Vikings’ quarterback, Dante Chachere, completed 6 of 9 passes for 74 yards and three touchdowns, contributing to the team’s total of 427 yards, while holding North American to a staggering minus-23 yards, underscoring their dominance on the field.

Portland State suffers a defeat, falling 81-7 to Oregon

Even though they played really well, Portland State’s overall season stats show a narrow +3 point differential, primarily because they lost to Oregon 81-7 in their season opener. The Oregon Ducks, at No. 15, built a 43-point halftime lead, and Quarterback Bo Nix threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns.

The loss was even more gruesome for Portland State because a Vikings player (name undisclosed) had their ear “ripped off” during the game, per CBS. Portland State coach Bruce Barnum clarified. “They sewed it back on, and now they say he has a concussion.”

Portland State will visit Wyoming on Saturday for up next games, while Oregon will visit Texas Tech on Saturday.
