Washington Commanders just lost one of their former RB who only ever played a single game in the NFL. Dahrran Diedrick passed away after an arduous battle with cancer on Saturday while surrounded by his family members and loved ones.

The RB only ever managed a single game in the NFL and that was in his debut campaign. The game time saw him switch divisions as he joined CFL after just a single campaign in the NFL. Diedrick’s switch to CFL would see him earn legendary status in a decade-long career.

Dahrran Diedrick earns tribute upon his death

Diedrick earned fanfare during his time in the CFL. His career saw him spend 8 years at his final home, Montreal Alouettes. It was with the Montreal outfit that Diedrick would etch himself as one of the fan favorites in the CFL, playing almost a century of games for them.

His dedication to football and the fight against cancer has seen him earn a tribute from his former team, Montreal Alouettes. The team posted a short message in his remembrance while consoling his family for the loss.

The tweet captioned, “We’re saddened to learn of the passing of former Alouettes running back Dahrran Diedrick. Our deepest condolences go out to Dahrran’s family, friends and former teammates.” The condolences will go quite some way for his family and friends as they cope with the loss of one of the greats of the CFL.

D. Diedrick won as a player and a coach

DD aka Dahrran Diedrick has experienced one of the most successful careers during his time in the CFL. Not many might remember him now, but he was pivotal to his college team as he led Nebraska to the Rose Bowl Final. Although he would lose the game to Miami, it professed a talent for football in Diedrick. Despite joining the rosters of the mighty Packers and Washington, he never truly found a home in the NFL. This saw him take a shot in the NFL, where he would end up making his name.

After joining Edmonton, he would win the Grey Cup in his debut season in the NFL in 2005. After moving on to Montreal Alouettes, he would add another couple of Grey cups to his name in 2009 and then in 2010. Diedrick would play for the Hamilton Tiger for one year in 2003 after joining the Alouettes one last time before hanging up his boots in 2014. But despite retiring from football, he would add another Grey Cup to his name as a strength coach with Toronto Argonauts in 2017.

Dahrran Diedrick may never have played more than once in the NFL. But his time with his college has made him one of the favorites from Nebraska and then with Montreal in the CFL.
