Tom Brady pulled off the best comeback in NFL history after the New England Patriots downed the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. It was Brady’s competitiveness that helped the Patriots make up for the 28-3 deficit in just two quarters. Though suffering from a great personal crisis, Brady stood out and delivered the best Super Bowl game ever. And that game simply defined him as the ultimate GOAT of football.
Brady was suspended for the first four games in the 2016 season for the Deflategate scandal. However, a more serious concern for the quarterback was that his mother was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer along with myeloma. That really broke him. However, he did not let that affect his performance in the gridiron.
Tom Brady turns down invitation from Donald Trump
The then US President Donald Trump had been a close friend of Tom Brady for a long time. And the Patriots’ ceremonial visit to the White House was bound to happen.
So it goes without saying that the player that Trump was very eager to meet was Tom Brady himself.
However, several players skipped the celebratory event including Tom Brady. But unlike others who stayed at home in opposition to President Donald Trump, Brady had to attend his ailing mother. Yet the rationale did not assuage Trump’s feelings when he did not get to see his favorite quarterback.

Trump furiously reacts to Brady’s absence
A year later a Washington Post report opened the curtains to the chaotic scenes aboard Air Force One, “Trump grew angry in April 2017 when Tom Brady said he planned to skip the White House visit with the Patriots, huddling angrily with aides and even calling Patriots owner Robert Kraft. One former senior administration official described a chaotic scene unfolding over the heartlands of America, as Trump flew back from an event in Wisconsin. Trump made a number of calls and asked aides to help fix the situation, worried that Brady’s absence would reflect poorly on him.”
As per the report Trump was not at all happy with Tom Brady not attending the event. The fact that they had been friends since 2002, makes it even more heartbreaking for Trump. Although Brady was never opposed to Trump, yet still his absence was deeply felt by the then President of the United States.
