This unexpected clash caught the attention of NFL veteran Marcellus Wiley, who was irked by the brewing controversy. What exactly transpired that led the Buccaneers’ standout LB to prod about “the new offense” that sparked Marcellus’s ire?

Lavonte David believes that the team’s offense will improve now after the new offensive coordinator Dave Canales joins the team. David told Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk that he found the offense to be “different” during spring practice. “There is a lot of movement, a lot of different personnel [groups], and they are giving us a lot of different looks. It enables us to adjust quickly and communicate defensively.”
Last season, Tampa Bay’s offense was often unsatisfactory because of the distractions Tom Brady faced off the field. Brady took an 11-day break from the team during the preseason, which affected their performance. It’s worth noting that Brady has since retired.
Bruce Arians, a former head coach of Tampa Bay and currently a senior advisor, expressed his “extreme unhappiness” with the Buccaneers’ decision to fire then-offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and five other assistants in January. David claimed that Canales, who formerly worked as the Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach, has already given Tampa Bay’s offense the much-needed boost.
David discussed the revamped Tampa Bay offense, “(Arians’) offense is more about taking deep shots down the field; this offense takes what the defense gives them.” For better or worse, legendary TB12 won’t return to save the Buccaneers in 2023.
Marcellus slams Lavonte for his statement
Lavonte David’s recent comments about the revamped Buccaneers offense visibly irked NFL veteran Marcellus Wiley, renowned for his candid analysis. David’s bold assertion that the offense would significantly improve under Dave Canales sparked a heated debate. Wiley, known for his straightforward approach, questioned David’s optimism and raised concerns about the team’s ability to adapt to a new offensive system.

“This is just the stuff you haven’t seen before. Hell! You get a new offense, you come all crack up, and you all go like, wow, it’s amazing…. You haven’t seen them in a while. That’s just very profound! You haven’t seen them in a while. Let it go alright!” shared Wiley in his recent video on his channel. This clash of opinions has left football enthusiasts eagerly awaiting further developments.
