The most amazing football guard ever, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has officially announced his emotional retirement. After being part of the NFL for 9 years and having played for 8 seasons, the guard has finally decided to withdraw from his position. The NFL community is now reluctantly bidding him goodbye with a heavy heart.

With heroic attainments throughout his career, Duvernay-Tardif has earned his place as an NFL hero. Not to mention, not a single soul would like to part from someone they look up to. After his invaluable contributions to the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets, Guard Tardif had to announce his retirement with sentiment-laden heavy words.

On September 21, 2023, the legendary guard announced his farewell on social media. With a long speech, Duvernay-Tardif conveyed his words of gratefulness to his teams and coaches, his friends, his love, and his fans. He stated that he could not believe he experienced such an adventure playing in the NFL. Tardif especially thanked Coach Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs.

 

He stated, “In 2014, I had the honor of being drafted by Coach Reid. He was probably one of the only NFL coaches who positively viewed my desire to complete my medical school studies at McGill while playing football. Since the beginning, he showed his willingness to support me throughout my 7 years with the organization. He believed that a player must flourish off the field to perform on the field. Being able to count on that kind of leadership was an incredible opportunity for me.”

Laurent has been an amazing player both on and off the field. Thus, he has the unwavering respect of everyone he knows. While the champion has come to the end of his NFL career, reminiscing about his invaluable moments is a good way to honor his contributions.

Duvernay-Tardif has always been an exceptional guard player. Starting his football journey at McGill University, he outstood his career with his notable teams. He won a Super Bowl in 2023, and the Lou Marsh Award which recognized his athletic excellence on the field as a guard for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He has not only been the guard on the field but also beyond the football borders. In 2020, Laurent opted out of his season to guard the common citizens during the pandemic. Holding a medical degree from McGill, the guard used his talents to the fullest by joining a care facility in Canada. In 2021, he won the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award as well as the award for the National Hero Honour.
