The future of Ben Roethlisberger appears to be unresolved still. The Steelers’ quarterback has not made any clarification about where he will be playing next summer after it was reported that the Steelers don’t want to bring him back.
However, since then, the franchise has changed its tune and is working with him to bring Big Ben back. Former Super Bowl winner Rod Woodson spoke to Rich Eisen recently.
He believes that the Steelers should be bringing Ben Roethlisberger back next season. He revealed that the Steelers used to have a policy of not keeping any player beyond 10 years.

But now, they have softened their stance on the same, and are working towards bringing Big Ben back, who, fortunately, wants to return.
“I think Ben wants to be there. Rooney just made it a concerted effort to keep their older players. Back when I played (there was) a 10 year limit with the Steelers. And when you get 10, it was ‘let everybody go’.
“Now, they do make a concerted effort to keep their best players. I think Ben wants to be there. I think Ben made a huge difference in what they did last year on the football field.”

Woodson added that Ben Roethlisberger is committed to staying with the Steelers. Even to the extent where he is willing to take a pay cut.
However, there is still a little more work to be done to be able to make it happen. Woodson noted that the Steelers should absolutely bring him back if given the option.

“Obviously they still need some more pieces to the puzzle. But if they can get Ben back for the right amount of money. And Ben already said that he’s willing to take a pay cut to come back.
“I think the Steelers would be foolish not to have him there because they don’t have a future backup quarterback sitting in that building right now in Pittsburgh.”
Will Big Ben return to the Steelers next season? It appears increasingly likely that he will don the Steelers’ jersey next season.
