The Washington Football Team just put in a startling performance against the Dallas Cowboys. The Washington-based outfit bested the Cowboys 41-16 in a massive blowout.
While Washington clearly did a great job as far as their offense was concerned, it was their standout defensive performance that sealed the victory.
Former NFL player Nate Burleson spoke about Washington’s performance. “For me, it’s the defense. The defense is what stood out to me. We’ve talked over the last few years about what the Washington Football Team was building defensively.

“More in particular, that defensive line. It was the pressure. The pressure not only that they put on Andy Dalton, but the pressure they put on Zeke. They held Zeke to 32 yards!”
Burleson added that it was the defensive work that held Zeke off from doing any damage. “He leads the league in lost fumbles, but he couldn’t get going. Because this defense was fantastic.
“They rush forward. And who was that? The most recent guy, Chase Young, who I joke about to say he was brought there to chase young QBs. Where Andy Dalton isn’t a young QB, but they were after him.”

According to Burleson, the pressure on Dalton was what helped the defense seal the win. “It seems like even when they didn’t get to him, he felt the pressure. And that right there is something you can hang your hat on.”

Burleson suggested that it was the defensive pressure put on Andy Dalton that forced him back in each play.
He said, “Offense is starting to look good, but defensively, we’re talking 4 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, and just countless amounts of times Andy Dalton just dropped back. And you can tell he felt claustrophobic because the pocket was collapsing.”
Burleson compared the Washington defense to the 2019 Super Bowl runner ups, the San Francisco 49ers. “For me, I loved watching that defense because it reminded me of what San Francisco was doing last year…

“When that D-line was just causing havoc game-in and game-out. This defense is young, and their superstars are going to be around for a long time. I’m looking at that Washington Football Team and their defense is what excites me.”
The Washington Football Team is now first in the NFC East standing. If they can continue to deliver such defensive and offensive performances, the team will be a major threat during the Playoffs.
