The New York Giants last tasted Super Bowl success with younger Manning brother. Eli Manning. But ever since Manning stepping down the Giants have struggled to replicate the success he brought to the franchise.

Daniel Jones was to be their star quarterback for the future. But so far, the QB has failed to live up to those lofty standards.

Drafted from Duke, Jones enters his third season as an NFL player with a respectable 35 touchdowns to his name. But what’s worrying is his turnover rate. With 39 interceptions to his name, the QB’s passes have led to more takeaways than TDs.

But even with Jones’ shaky start, New York Giants owner John Mara recently went on to say that he believes the young QB can replicate what his predecessor Eli Manning did. Which is win the franchise two Super Bowls.

This comment though is something that an NFL analyst did not agree with.

Is Daniel Jones the right man to lead the New York Giants?

During a segment of KJZ, former New York Giants player Chris Canty said that he doesn’t necessarily agree with the comments made by Mara.

“I don’t know how he can say that definitively based on what we’ve seen from Daniel Jones in his first couple of years. I mean, he’s got 39 turnovers in two seasons starting. It’s hard to win consistently when your quarterback is turning the ball over 20 times a year,” said Canty.

Canty, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2005 later joined the New York Giants. Alongside Eli Manning, he helped his side win Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots in 2011.

“So for John Mara to come out and say that he can definitively say that Daniel Jones is going to be the guy to lead us to championships like Eli Manning did once upon a time. I just don’t know how you make that statement,” Canty further added.
