Who is Donald Reche Caldwell?

Back in 2002, the San Diego Chargers recruited Caldwell from the University of Florida. Four years later, he signed with the New England Patriots, making it all the way to the AFC Championship. Unfortunately, he only lasted a single year before being shuttles around to the Washington Redskins and later, the St Louis Rams.

Admittedly, he was a bit of a wild child, having been in prison for drug abuse in 2015. Apparently, he reportedly accepted a parcel with 1.5 kilograms of ethylone in May 2014. However, he owned up to his mistake and refused to pin the blame on anyone else.

“I’m not gonna blame football or concussions like everybody else for my mistakes,” Caldwell said. “I don’t blame my education or my hometown or my family. I have a great family, I had a great childhood, I grew up in a great place. This is about losing my way, being around bad people and making bad choices, and that’s all on me.”

In addition to that, Caldwell is one of 10 former NFL players involved in an alleged medicare fraud scheme. Sadly, he has passed away at the age of 41, in what is allegedly an attempted robbery. Needless to say, the entire NFL fraternity was devastated at the loss
