Former Giants Kicker Questions Aaron Rodgers Hall Of Fame Credentials: “Eli Manning is a More Qualified Hall of Famer Than Aaron Rodgers.”

Former New York Giants special teams player Lawrence Tynes was challenging Aaron Rodgers while backing his former QB Eli Manning. The claims do emerge on the back of Rodgers and the Packers getting eliminated in the NFL playoffs. The comments themselves though deserve a lot of consideration with both QBs being former Super Bowl champions.

The 43-year-old placekicker was apart from backing his former teammate clearly voicing the conundrum that Rodgers brings to any such arguments. The loss to the San Francisco 49ers did little favors for Rodgers whose last Super Bowl appearance did come in 2010. The absence from the NFL’s headline event for so long has in fact cast a shadow over his extraordinary regular season performances.

Tynes also does point out the painful fact with mentions of his former New York Giants QB Eli Manning. He does state, “Eli Manning is a more qualified Hall of Famer than Aaron Rodgers. Bring all the smoke you want. I’m taking 10 over 12 anytime a game is on the line or the playoffs.” He is pointing towards the fact that Manning did lead his Giants team to 2 Super Bowl victories while Rodgers has only done it once.

Is Eli Manning vs Aaron Rodgers a legitimate debate?

The 2-time Super Bowl champion Manning dominating Aaron Rodgers conversation only does end with that. The numbers though show how wrong Tynes could be in reality. While Manning currently does lead Rodgers in career passing yards and Super Bowl rings, Rodgers dominates him over every other statistic.

Rodgers has been a far more consistent performer throughout his career. The reigning league MVP has won the individual honor thrice while Eli has never won a single league MVP award. Eli also trails Rodgers in career TD passes, while also making significantly fewer Pro Bowl teams until his retirement in 2019.

While the Packers’ QB has been a machine during the regular season, Eli has in fact been more clutch in the postseason. The answer to the debate about which QB is deserving of the Hall of Fame honor is difficult. Both QBs do have been a big reason for victory for their franchises and have left a long-lasting mark on the NFL. It will be a disservice to their remarkable careers to be taken up for comparison for argument’s sake.
