Former Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber III was found dead at his apartment in Frisco on Wednesday. The Texas Police had gone for a welfare checkup when they discovered the 38 years old Marion unresponsive. The cause of the death is still unknown, and the Police have described the investigation as an unattended death. 

Marion’s former team Dallas Cowboys’ confirmed the news by releasing a statement on their social media. The statement read, “We are heartbroken by the tragic death of Marion Barber III…”

Marion Barber III has played in six seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys drafted the running back star in the fourth round of 2005. Marion played his last season with the Cowboys in 2010 and was signed by Chicago bears in 2011 for a 1-year contract.

Barber, his whole NFL career: rushed for 4,780 yards and scored 53 touchdowns on the ground. As a receiver, he caught 179 passes for 1,330 yards and six touchdowns. Barber’s best season was in 2007. He ran for 975 yards and scored 10-touchdowns. With his incredible performance, he made it to the Pro Bowl.

Chicago Bears also released a statement regarding the death of their former running back, Marion Barber III.

In last season with the Bears, Marion played as a backup to Matt Forte. He ran for 422 yards and scored six touchdowns. After playing for 1 season with the Bears, Marion retired in 2012.

Marion, throughout his life, was involved in many humanitarian projects. He worked with his foundation for the betterment of his community.

Marion Barber III was the son of a former NFL player Marion Barber Jr. His younger brother Dominique Barber has also played in the league and represented Houston Texans as a safety. His other brother, Thomas Barber, was a former linebacker for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
