A couple of years ago, the New England Patriots traded their then-QB Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The sensational move made headlines for quite a while, and analysts could talk about nothing else. Part of those unnoticed stories was Jameis Winston, the player Brady replaced at Tampa Bay. And though he had no qualms over being dropped for Brady, it seems there might be some things nagging him.

He recently appeared on the show ‘Truss Levelz’ with fellow Saints teammates Cam Jordan and Mark Ingram. There, the former Heisman Trophy winner opens up about his emotions when Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl in Brady’s debut year. “I love my teammates. But I wish I could have took them to that level, that happened the next year.”

“And like I still get motivated by that, and I still, like [I] don’t think about it much, but man. I like doing [it for my] my boys… And to see it happen, it made me really more hungry. And to see who made it happen, I was just like, man!”

While facing the Atlanta Falcons in week 1, he suffered back injuries that should’ve benched him for a few weeks at least. But he further aggravates the injury by playing next week against the Bucs.
Since then, he’s been in recovery. But as his health reaches pre-injury levels, all does not seem well for Winston. In fact, he just might be of the opinion that the man supposed to be his backup, Andy Dalton, has replaced him permanently. This was further confirmed when head coach Dennis Allen confirmed he wouldn’t be making any changes at QB anytime soon.

Winston said he will focus on supporting his team and Dalton whenever he does return to the active roster. “Because I wear that shirt that says, ‘Big team, little me,’ even though it hurts my heart. It hurts my soul the way things have turned out to be this year, but it is what it is.”
