Ex-Buccaneers defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh has joined the Eagles on a year-long deal after he was released by the Tampa Bay team earlier this year.
Have strategic decisions gone wrong for the Bucs?
Ndamukong Suh served on the Bucs for the last three years. All three years, he signed year-long contracts. He had been a key member of the Bucs’ defense as he started all games in the 2021 season. He put up the numbers to show it, too. The single-season contract merchant was linked with multiple teams as last year came to an end.
The Bucs were also in contention for retaining him. However, they chose to prefer their younger talent while also relying on experienced Akiem Hicks, whom they brought in at the start of the season.
Things don’t seem to have picked up for the Bucs since this move as they find themselves performing poorly as compared to when their roster had Ndamukong. Since being released, Suh had expressed his interest in joining the Eagles and now he’s got that going for him.
Eagles making statements in the front office
Suh joins the Eagles as the franchise continues to strengthen its defense. Their announcement about Suh came in shortly after acquiring other defensemen. Linval Joseph was added to their roster earlier this week.

Joseph and Suh were both a part of the same draft class and are in their 13th NFL season. Both experienced free agents have been acquired on season-long contracts. The two additions give the Eagles even more stealth to their beefy defense.
This is just another sign of how the Eagles mean pure business this year. They are looking to build on their excellent form by adding experience in places it matters. With just half, the season to go, splurging like that on older players is their way of announcing their contention for the Lombardi trophy. Post their first defeat of the season, they will look to go undefeated for the remainder of their run. Suh and Joseph seem to be their way of getting to their goal.

With the Buccaneers also making positive strides as they enter the second half of the season, they look like they could secure a playoff spot as well. If the Bucs were to meet the Eagles in the playoffs, it would make for an epic battle. Tom Brady against his rival team is always fun to watch. Ndamukong Suh will also look to let his old team know that they were wrong to have released him.
