Former Buccaneers Guard Ali Marpet Chooses Masters Degree Over Playing Another Season With Tom Brady

Earlier in February, Tom Brady shook the world of football by announcing his retirement. But a few days ago, the GOAT broke the internet again by pulling a reverse Uno card on his retirement. It seems like a trip to Manchester inspired the quarterback to return to the field. 

A lot has changed in the NFL since Brady announced his supposed retirement. Especially in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad. After seeing his star QB retire, the guard Ali Marpet chose to walk away from the field as well. The 28-year-old chose to hang up his boots and return to school. Even after seeing Brady announce a comeback, Marpet has chosen to focus on completing his master’s degree.

In a surprising twist of fate, Tom Brady has decided that he is not done yet. The GOAT still has a lot left in the tank. When Brady announced his retirement, people were in shock. They could not wrap their heads around the situation. Why would Brady retire after having a spectacular season? The legendary quarterback broke multiple records during the 2021 NFL campaign. Him suddenly walking away didn’t make much sense.

A few days after Brady’s departure, the guard, Ali Marpet, also announced his retirement. It was also very shocking to the fans. The athlete is just 28-years-old. But Marpet had his mind set on walking away from football for a while. The guard wants to return to college and complete his master’s degree. After Brady unretired, many people speculated that Marpet will be coming back as well. 

Ali has chosen to stick with his plans and stay retired, according to his agent. The Super Bowl-winning guard is pursuing a mental health degree. It is amazing to see him do something which is much bigger than playing football. 

Tampa needs a new guard

Following Brady’s retirement, the Buccaneers seemed to be in shambles. The franchise was facing difficulties in filling spots. Many big names were on the brink of leaving the team. But seeing Tom Brady return, not many players will be leaving the roster. 

The Buccaneers would still need a guard to fill in for Ali Marpet. Tampa is determined to win the Super Bowl once again. And Brady coming back for his 23rd season might be the perfect year for it.
