11th March is a very special day. This year on the 11th day of March, Maxx Crosby signed an enormous extension with the Las Vegas Raiders. But on this day, two years ago, the defensive star took a step to make a change in his life. 

The 24-year-old DE became sober on March 11th, 2020. Crosby has never shied away from speaking about his problems. He has always been open about his struggle with alcohol. But he was brave enough to ask for help when he needed it the most. The road to sobriety is very difficult, but Maxx Crosby was able to overcome his demons. Today, he is considered one of the best players in the Raiders squad.

Maxx Crosby celebrates two years of being sober

2020 was a terrible year for everyone. Everybody was fighting their own battles. But a week before the entire world shut down, Maxx Crosby had already begun his battle. Crosby’s fight was with no one but himself. The Raiders’ defensive end has been struggling with alcohol problems for a long time. And he knew he needed to change.

“It was March 11, the day I got sober,” said Crosby. “I was living in Hollywood. Strolled out there and checked into rehab. … And the whole world was put on shut down. I was there for a month, and then I was able to just get myself right.” 

After checking out from rehab, Crosby went straight to a sober living facility where he stayed until the training camps began. During the 2020 offseason, the DE was in treatment. And it appeared to be the best decision he had ever made. The second anniversary of Maxx Crosby’s sobriety was yesterday. To celebrate, he tweeted a picture of the date inked on his hand, and in the caption, Crosby wrote, “A Special Day.”

Four-year extension with the Las Vegas Raiders

Other than sobriety, something else made 11th March more special for Maxx Crosby. The Las Vegas Raiders have decided they wanted to keep their favorite defensive star around for longer. The Raiders have offered Crosby a four-year deal which has a $98.98 million extension. It has $53 million guaranteed and $95 million in new money.

The timing could not have been better for the edge rusher. He has earned every penny. Crosby has turned his life around completely, and he is proud of it. The DE went from a very dark place to being selected in the Pro Bowl. The story of Maxx Crosby has inspired football fans all around the world.
