Tom Brady took the high road after the 2022-23 season and announced his retirement. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB1 came short of clutching his eighth Lombardi after facing defeat at the Wild Card game. Despite announcing his second retirement, there is still anticipation that TB12 could return. Amidst that, GM John Lynch sent out a text, which could build some offseason intrigue.
The NFL is hosting the 2023 Scouting Combine in full swing at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Amongst the other franchises, the San Francisco 49ers were also eyeing out athletes with GM John Lynch at Indianapolis. Their QB scenario remains unknown, despite having the odds of Trey Lance and Brock Purdy.

At the Combine, Niners GM John Lynch revealed he texted the GOAT Tom Brady after he announced his retirement. He mentioned via NBC Sports, “I sent him a text when he retired. He was a teammate for about three weeks at one point, so I sent him a text, ‘Congratulations.’ One of the greatest careers that I’ve ever seen in any sport.’ I wished him the best. We will leave it at that.”

The Tom Brady to San Francisco 49ers was a dream tie-up that could not happen. It was a close call when TB12 touched upon free agency in 2020. But the franchise stuck with Jimmy Garoppolo. However, anything could happen once Tom Terrific becomes an unrestricted free agent.
The Red and Gold are in a dilemma with their QB division. With Jimmy G gone and Trey Lance rehabbing, Brock Purdy is dealing with injury-related issues. Purdy performed like a standout as a rookie who led the franchise to the NFC Championship game. Amidst the troubles, what would the franchise opt to do?

The Niners are in a dilemma with their situation with the quarterbacks. Both Purdy and Lance are dealing with injuries. Given their competency to handle pressure as a starter, both QBs have worked well. While they could control the game, GM John Lynch did not strike off the probability of adding a seasoned athlete to the division.

While at the Scouting Combine, GM Lynch implied they would monitor the quarterbacks market. This year, QBs like Derek Carr, and Carson Wentz could be in demand. Furthermore, the likes of Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers would be there. Their days with Garoppolo are done, and it might be time for them to bring a new yet seasoned face to the franchise.
