The turfs in the NFL have become a bone of contention. The protest against the NFL for the usage of artificial turfs is gathering pace. Recently, the best friend of Aaron Rodgers has jumped into the debate after the Green Bay Packers lost another player to injury.

The Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari has something to say to the league administrators. And they aren’t going to like it.

David Bakhtiari slams the NFL

The Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari slammed the NFL for the use of artificial turfs in the league. This comes after the Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary tore his ACL in the game against the Detroit Lions in week nine. He said the game was violent enough already and the turfs should not add to injury.

“Football is violent enough. Injuries are gonna happen. Turf doesn’t have to be,” Bakhtiari tweeted.

He then retweeted a series of tweets on the issue, all of which asked for safer fields. The Packers’ injury crisis has deepened with Gary’s injury. Bakhtiari himself remains doubtful about the game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a knee injury. Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell is out due to a knee injury. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs is out due to an ankle injury.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this season

Injuries and turfs aside, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have struggled since the start of the 2022 season. Rodgers came into the season as a back-to-back MVP and the fans expected the Packers to challenge for the Super Bowl this season. But it hasn’t panned out that way for them.

The franchise from Green Bay has won just three of the nine games they have featured in. The Packers are on a five-game losing streak that they are desperate to get out of. And their main weapon Rodgers and the O-line hasn’t fired at all this season.

Rodgers has thrown just under 2100 yards of passing this season, but the pass interceptions have hurt him the most. The opposing defenses have intercepted seven of his passes so far in the nine games. Three of them were in the last game against the Lions.

Though Rodgers has thrown 15 touchdown passes, the D-line has leaked points and negated them. Rodgers has a QB rating of 36.3, putting him tied for 27th in the league in that regard.
