As the offseason draws to an end soon, teams will be hurriedly shuffling about their roster and making bids to retain potential talents that could help them march towards success. The New York Giants have been trying to do the same, as they finished third in the NFC East division. Brian Daboll signed as the HC for the Giants in 2022 in a bid to take the franchise to new heights. While the team was able to agree to a four-year $160 million deal with their QB Daniel Jones, they have not been able to do the same for their talented RB, who broke records during his college days at Penn State.
Now, the RB has instilled a sense of fear into the Giants’ drawing room, as he rejected to sign his franchise tender before the offseason program.

In a recent blow for the Giants, their RB Saquon Barkley refused to sign his franchise tag with the team. They placed the tag on her brilliantly performing RB after securing a whopping $160 million whopping deal with Daniel Jones. This left Barkley unhappy as the team is not providing him with the deal he is hoping for. In a recent episode of the Speak channel on YouTube, staff writer David Helman said that Barkley was making the right decision refusing to play on the franchise tag, given his splendid last season.
Helman said, “Nobody is happy about playing on the franchise tag. It’s a lot of money. It’s no security, it is no long-term guarantee. And he wants that. And Saquon Barkley’s been a good soldier about this. I mean, I know he’s had his injury issues but he’s been a productive player. It’s well within his rights to want a long-term deal. The Giants were going back and forth. They have been thinking about using the tag on Barkley well before they even signed Daniel Jones. This is your only move as a player.”
