There is a long-standing feud between Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The feud started after Disney spoke up against the dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” bill. In response to Disney’s stand on the controversial bill, DeSantis called to remove Disney World’s self-governing status. This status had allowed the entertainment giants to call their own decisions, majorly involving development processes. The feud escalated last month after Disney was able to silently disenfranchise the new board setup without it coming to DeSantis’ allies’ notice.
In the midst of the fight between the two, NFL legend OJ Simpson shared his stance on the ongoing feud between Ron DeSantis and Disney.

Speaking up about the controversy in his recent Twitter video, OJ Simpson said that he had visited Disneyland for the first time when he was 20 years old. He was then able to take his kids to Disney after years and they all had a good time there. Now with the Government threatening to build a competing state park or prison near the Disney theme park, Simpson commented on it.

OJ said, “I don’t know what the fight is really between the governor and Disney. But don’t make the world suffer because of it. Because Disney world, Disneyland belongs to the children of the world. No, I’m just saying, get them some other way. A prison complex next to Disney World? You got to be kidding me.”

The Disney Vs DeSantis feud
On March 28, 2022, Disney released a statement saying that they will have the “Don’t Say Gay” law repealed. They were of the belief that such a bill should never have been passed. This made DeSantis state that Disney was “crossing the line” by deciding to not abide by the law governed by his government. They then started to look into the Reedy Creek Improvement Act that grants Disney the right to act like their own government.
Rather than expunging Reedy Creek, the lawmakers decided to approve a bill that gave control to DeSantis over the district and also appoint new members to the five-seat board. The Board’s chairman then recently said that an ‘11th-hour agreement’ allowed Disney to set its own utility rates through 2032.
