Safety Lewis Cine was a guest on the Richard Sherman podcast earlier this week. During the interview, he revealed some talks going on with the Bucs in the background. He was close to being a Buccaneer. The rumors of him signing with Tampa were loud but did not come true. What actually happened between Cine and the Buccaneers?
Lewis Cine calls out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The first-round draft pick Lewis Cine was linked with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for weeks. Many believe that the young defensive star would end up in Florida. And just like the media, Cine was sure of it too. But as we all know, that did not happen. During his interview, Cine revealed why he did not become a Buccaneer.

The newest Vikings safety said, “They told me they were going to take me if I was there. Then I got there, and they traded the pick.” Explaining the situation, Cine said, “I had a team at twenty-seven. They know who they are. I ain’t gonna say no names. It was at twenty-seven. The whole process—if you’re there—we’re gonna pick you. They move down to the first pick of the second round. I’m like, damn, they did me just so dirty.”

It is clear as day that Lewis Cine is talking about none other than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They owned the twenty-seventh overall pick in the draft this year. According to him, the safety was misled by the franchise.

The Bucs did not keep their promise. Instead of picking Cine at 27, they traded their pick and drafted Logan Hall at 33. Lewis Cine could have been playing in Tampa next season. But the rumors did not turn out to be true. Even after interviewing the prospect before the draft, they chose another hopeful. Cine is now preparing for his professional football debut in Minneapolis. Maybe he will be able to play some playoff games and Skol with the Vikings after victory.
