The Packers are having a turbulent season. The team seems to be at a crossroads with several stars sidelined due to injuries. With Aaron Rodgers in command, everyone is blaming him for the team’s persistent losses. It could force QB1 to grace the bench, making Jordan Love the starter. But would it happen? An ESPN NFL front-office insider has opened up about the same.

Aaron Rodgers is heading home to take on the Cowboys. But, considering Green Bay’s losing streak, they are the underdogs against the Blue Star. They need in-form players to challenge their opposition, and A-Rod is not one of them. Mike Tannenbaum sees benching the reigning MVP and letting Jordan Love open as an awkward move, but one that might be necessary at this point.

The ESPN Insider mentioned, “At the end of the day, Brian and Matt, their responsibility is the next 10 years. They’re not going to win the title this year, so as hard as it is to look Aaron Rodgers in the eye and say, ‘We’re benching you.’”

“The alternative is he comes back and they trade Jordan Love to [a team like] the Falcons for a third-round pick and Jordan Love is a consequential starter in the league for the next 10 years. Then Aaron graduates after the ’23 season, and now you’re sitting there with no hope, no plan, and your young quarterback, with whom this whole thing got started, is crushing it in Atlanta, which you can’t have happen,” he added.

It would be difficult for the Packers to move past the ‘A-Rod’ era. But the franchise front needs to make difficult decisions with the QB1, Jordan Love, and the salary cap.

In the recent ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ broadcast, the topic of benching Aaron Rodgers further in the season was discussed. Considering the Rodgers’ poor form of late, the panelists agreed to it, including Marcus Spears. But the ex-NFL DE has some problems with Rodgers’ massive contract, citing it as the reason for the franchise not letting Jordan Love start.

Marcus Spears stated that the Packers have a lot of problems and the $50 million contract is why Jordan Love is not in the game. He also said all the money given to him by the Packers is for dealing with the current situation.
