The NFL world now knows Patrick Mahomes as the superstar QB for the Kansas City Chiefs. Many also believe that he is the next in line to Tom Brady to become the next GOAT of the game. In his five seasons as the Chief QB starter, he has five Pro Bowl nods, two All-Pro selections, two MVP awards, and two Super Bowl championships.
But what if the Chiefs did not draft Mahomes? What if another franchise took their chances in 2017 and got the 2X MVP QB on board their roster? Patrick Mahomes Sr. recently spoke about the possibility of his son being a part of the Chicago Bears. Mahomes, a Bear? How would have that looked like?

During a chat with Chicago Radio, Mahomes Sr. revealed the Bears had been thinking about drafting his son as their QB. He even said that Mahomes himself wanted to play for the Bears. But the Bears ultimately decided to trade up and select North Carolina QB Mitchell Trubisky as the second overall pick in 2017. The Chiefs then went up to grab Patrick Mahomes as a no.10 overall pick, and the rest of the journey to date has been a historical legacy.

Mahomes Sr. said, “They told him they were going to draft him, so we thought he was going to be a third overall and go to Chicago. He had a great meeting when he went there and liked all the guys that were doing stuff there. He thought he was going to be a Bear. And once they traded up and got Mitch, it kind of hurt him. It really did.”
As fans now know Mahomes as the Chiefs QB and Super Bowl winner, the question that arises is, would fortune have favored Mahomes had he played for the Chicago Bears?

Would Mahomes have enjoyed the same success as the Bears’ QB?
Patrick Mahomes is currently on a wonderful run at the Chiefs Kingdom. Winning two Super Bowls and solidifying his name as the next GOAT of the game, would it have been the same for the QB as a Bear? David Haugh, Mark Grote, and Josh Schrock once discussed on NBC Sports Chicago the potential outcomes possible if the Chicago Bears drafted Mahomes in 2017. Schrock said that things would have been different. Mahomes can credit his success because of the team and the HC at the Chiefs. With Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and former teammate Tyreek Hill behind his back, this gave him access to talents he used to shine on the field. If he had gone to Chicago, his inherent talent might not have had a chance at the polish the Chiefs provided.

What do you think? Would Mahomes have helped the Bears reach the same glory the Chiefs are currently enjoying?
