After a dramatic last-second victory over the New Orleans Saints, Tom Brady has shifted his focus toward the San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday. In this game, he will face the 22-year-old quarterback Brock Purdy, who impressed everyone in his last outing against Miami. Notably, the age difference between Brady and Purdy is staggering; While Brady is around 45 years old, Purdy is just 22. Recently, the NFL posted a social media post regarding this, which got the NFL world talking.

It is worth noting that the Niners picked Purdy in the 7th round in the 2022 NFL draft. It’s quite fortunate that they picked Purdy because San Francisco is currently going through major injury concerns, as they lost their star quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, to a foot injury and he could miss the entire season. If not for the injury, Brady and Garoppolo would have gone face-to-face.
NFL fans can’t keep calm, as Tom Brady is set to face Brock Purdy during the Bucs vs Niners game this Sunday
While Garoppolo is gone, fans are still excited to see the match-up between Purdy and Brady. Earlier, the official Instagram account of the NFL posted a picture of Brady and Purdy. The picture also stated that Purdy is only 22 years old, whereas Brady is currently playing in his 23rd NFL season. In the caption, they sarcastically wrote, “Just a little bit of an age difference between these two QBs.”

More fans posted similar comments about Brady‘s age being half that of Purdy’s. “Mans been in the league longer than purdy been alive,“ another fan said. One fan interestingly talked about Brady possibly passing the torch to Purdy after Sunday’s game. Meanwhile, one fan said that Purdy plays better than Garoppolo. Some fans hilariously called Purdy the ‘GOAT’ instead of Brady, as a user wrote, “The goat and Tom Brady.“

While fans want Purdy to get the win, they feel Brady is going to do another last-minute miracle and get the win over the rookie. Other fans also feel sad that they are not going to see the Brady and Garoppolo battle. “We were so close to seeing Brady vs Garoppolo,“ a user wrote.

Notably, growing up, Brady idolized Joe Montana and his 49ers team. In many interviews, he talked about falling in love with football after watching the Niners back in the day. Interestingly, Brady faced the Niners only once in his 23-year-old NFL career. When he was playing for the Patriots, he beat them back in 2016. It will be interesting to see the result this time, as he’s playing for the Bucs.
