There is no doubt that Lamar Jackson possesses immense prowess on the field. He is famously known for being a double threat quarterback, with his ability to sling passes as well as run the yards. His skill level and his sharp athleticism makes him a quarterback that most defensive teams of the league fear. Despite such gifts, there seems to be a lack of teams who want to recruit him. After his tussle with the Ravens, teams haven’t opened up their arms for him. It has come to a point that even his adversaries have had enough.
As owners of NFL teams have been making statements about why they don’t want Jackson, a defensive player from the Patriots spoke in his support. With team owners all turning down the possibility of Jackson as QB for their team, the safety from the Patriots spoke in Jackson’s support and expressed his fear of the QB’s playing style.

Good quarterbacks always inspire fear among the defensive line with their passing. However, Jackson is one of those rare quarterbacks who has been able to inspire fear for both, his running as well as his passing. His double threat on the field has undoubtedly been a problem for players who’ve faced him and one of them is New England Patriots safety, Jalen Mills. Mills took to Twitter to speak about how he respects the way Jackson plays on the field.
All I’m going to say is “EVERY” defender in the league knows you have to come correct when playing Lamar .
Both run and pass situation! https://t.co/4i3hRgLguG— Jalen Mills (@greengoblin) March 29, 2023
The safety for the Patriots spoke about how Jackson is a dual threat, in both passing and running situations. Interestingly, Mills’ response came to a statement that the Falcons owner made about not pursuing Jackson. This seems to add another nuance to Jackson’s trade situation because this statement came after Rich Eichen predicted the Falcons to be Jackson’s most prominent landing spot.
Furthermore, Mills’ reactions earned some contradicting reactions from the fans. They took to Twitter to share their opinion on the safety’s high praise of Jackson’s style of play.
Fans conflicted over Mills’ words
NFL fans had interesting opinions about Mills’ praise for Jackson. For the most part, most of the reactions were conflicting in terms of what they said. One fan spoke about bringing him in for the Patriots.
As an Eagles fan Lamar on the Pats would be a great fit please help keep that man in the AFC 🙏🙏

Furthermore, there were fans who denied Mills’ opinions.
Yeah maybe 3 years ago , defenses are caught on now

However, some fans were desperate to get Jackson to play for the Patriots.
Please tell me jalen are we trying to sign lamar?

There were also comments urging Mills to tell Belichick this opinion.
Tell your coach that

Finally, fans also compared Jackson to other quarterbacks in the league.
he's a better runner then passer though when Allen and Hurts proved they are better passers and have running as they do alot but it's a second thought

All in all, fans’ reactions ranged from wasting to bringing him to the Patriots as well as fans negating Mills’ opinions about the quarterback. However, no one could deny the fact that Jackson has been a double threat in the past and certainly still holds the potential to be one in the future.
As fans deliberate over Jackson’s landing spot, an opinion from a decorated defensive player only adds to Jackson’s portfolio. It only remains to be seen if owners will heed this appreciation and make a move for the double-threat QB.
