The first-round pick of the 2016 draft, Ezekiel Elliott, was released from his team in March this year. Eliot called the Dallas Cowboys home for 7 years, but after being let go, he is having trouble finding a new one. He has had an extraordinary career as a running back for the Cowboys. For the Cowboys to let him go might be related to the salary cap as he was taking $10.5 million in cap space. Even though it is unclear why the Cowboys let him go but there were definitely speculations all over the internet.
Zeke has scored a total of 12 touchdowns in his career and 30 games with 1000+ rushing yards. But his market value has declined exponentially. He is expecting a better home for the upcoming season, but till now, he has had no luck.

Zeke probably has had a mental toll since March 2023. From getting let go to getting rejected left and right despite having years of experience. Skip Peete, back coach of the Buccaneers said that Zeke can only expect a place in the team if he is willing to take a reduced pay and a lesser role. Zeke still has a chance to be welcomed back by the Cowboys. But nothing is certain, as there were rumors that Dalvin Cook was taking the place of Ezekiel in his former team. Amidst all the chaos, Zeke found comfort in the quarterback of his former team.
Dak Prescott‘s Instagram post was shared by Ezekiel in his story. The caption read “Keep going, somebody loves you”. Zeke is struggling right now but it is important to remember his dent as a RB for the Cowboys. He is not willing to take a smaller role for a reason. If he takes a smaller role, he might not get the chance to play this season or the next.

Everyone is maybe keeping the 27-year-old running back aside because, at this point of his career, he is not worth the money he is asking for. But his records say otherwise. He has had a tough year in 2022, with only 876 rushing yards with 3.8 yards per carry. The Cowboys has signed some new players for the current season. But they only hinted for an offer on the table for Zeke might be there. There are certainly some possibilities, but the best thing to do is ‘wait’.
