Barkley stated, “My leverage is I could say, ‘f— you’ to the Giants, I could say, ‘f— you to my teammates, and be like, ‘You want me to show you my worth? You want me to show you how valuable I am to the team? I won’t show up. I won’t play a down.’ And that’s a play I could use.“
While a one-year contract remains an option, a multi-year deal for the 2023 season is no longer on the table. However, Barkley’s dilemma also extends to the potential of facing back-to-back franchise tags in 2024, which would cost the Giants a considerable amount. And depending on the ongoing rift, Barkley’s presence in the 2023 season remains in the dark.
