The NBA legend Kobe Bryant was one of the superstars from the sports fraternity to have advocated Kaepernick’s campaign. Since playing his last game on January 1, 2017, Colin Kaepernick never looked back or entered the field for a football game. In these five years, many things have changed in American history. Certainly, the former Niners QB was successful in etching his name as the one who raised his voice against the racial inequalities prevailing in the country. Interestingly, Kobe Bryant even chooses Kaepernick among all the black athletes to have impressed him with his leadership.

Kaepernick’s initial way of showing displeasure against all the disparities was during his football matches. He used to kneel when the national anthem was played before the start of every game he played in 2016.

Since then, it started attracting the attention of fans and celebrities across the country. Some appreciated him and joined his hands, while some resorted to opposing him. But the movement always went on.

Bryant, who always supported standing for the black people as he himself comes from such a community, the NBA legend extended his wishes for the quarterback-turned-activist.

Back in 2018, when Kobe appeared for an episode of ESPN’s The Undefeated, he spoke on various topics, including Kaepernick’s campaign. When asked who inspired him the most among all the black athletes present at that time, the star had a straightforward answer without hesitation.

“Well, I think what Colin Kapernick stood for is the epitome of doing what he believes is right,” Bryant said. “Now, things have been taken out of context and misconstrued and they try to bend it this way that way, and missing the point of What it is the message that he was getting across and I think having the bravery to be able to do that is something that we should all stand for” he added to his statements.

Getting such kind of support from the legend fueled Kaepernick’s movement even more. He founded a “know your rights” campaign that raised millions of dollars for the upliftment and well-being of people. Even Bryant vowed to have donated many dollars in contribution.

However, all these activities obliterated his chances to get back to the NFL. Teams started sidelining him, and he was unable to get back on the field. But Bryant was pretty confident about Kaepernick’s future. He predicted that the quarterback will get a second chance to prove himself.

“I think he’ll get his shot. And I think there’s going to be a lot of people that want to see him fail, and he is not going to. He’ll rise back to the top again” Bryant said on the show. With the recent developments taking place inside the league and Kaepernick getting a workout session with the Raiders, it seems, the days are not far away for the fans to see Kaepernick once again donning an NFL jersey.
