Deion Sanders is one of the hottest commodities right now when it comes to future coaches to look for. The 55-year-old went to JSU with little to no experience as an HC. But Prime Time turned the program around in no time. In three seasons, the Tigers won 2 consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference titles. Even going undefeated for the time this past season. After being named Coach of the Year twice by SWAC, the coach in question staked a claim among teams higher up in the chain. One of the interested parties was Auburn University, which just did not work out.
The talks of hiring Coach Prime were shut off early in the recruitment process by the decision-makers. Fans were amazed to see such little effort. However, after a clip of the 55-year-old talking to Shannon Sharpe on his podcast, Club Shay Shay is making the rounds online. The same fans are putting things in perspective. Some of them are even relieved to have dodged the bullet.

The short snip out of the interviews features Sanders telling the Denver Broncos‘ legend that his time is more important than meeting with a few program boosters. Seeing the clip, many Auburn supporters came to the conclusion that with views like this, he just was not a good fit.

Wow! Isn’t that part of the job when your hired by a university for public relations and figure head of a sports program? I still wanted @CoachCaddy24 but so far have liked what @CoachHughFreeze has done and waiting to see next chapter he’ll create @AuburnTigers

I, for 1 am glad "it didn't go well"…Auburn won by not getting this guy IMO.

Prime is all about selling the Prime brand, not the Auburn or Colorado fb brand.

However, in the defense of Coach Prime, they cut the clip out of context. Prior to the admission, Sanders mentioned the lack of investment by boosters in the HBCU. In this case, it was the lack of support which became the subject of the 55-year-old’s harsh assessment.

Deion Sanders’ gets his move
Although the Tigers did not go all in for the 2 time Super Bowl champion. Sanders still got his move to a bigger college. The University of Colorado Boulder decided to take a gamble on the interesting figure. The Colorado Buffaloes announced the hiring of Sanders in early December after a month of speculation over a potential deal. Their choice is already bearing some fruit since the coach has started to show some pull in the recruitment. Furthermore, his staff is also getting the right boost.

Auburn Tigers also went another way after a drawn-out screening for a coach. They hired Hugh Freeze. The 53-year-old coach has superior experience to Sanders as he spent 10 years as a coach. He was formerly with Ole Miss for 5 years, where he amassed a 39-25 record.
