It’s been a busy offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs and Head Coach Andy Reid. Patrick Mahomes led the Missouri-based outfit to the Super Bowl title last year. In doing so, the Texas-born athlete ended a 50-year wait for another Lombardi Trophy to make its way down south.
The Chiefs have tied down Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones on long-term contract extensions this month. They are aiming at building a dynasty of their own just like Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did at theNew England Patriots from 2000.
The Chiefs have gone one step further in achieving that goal by getting highly-rated rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to sign his first deal. Here is what the youngster had to say after signing his first professional NFL deal since leaving LSU.

“Ultimately I’m just really happy to be here. This is my happy place. I’ve been doing this — I’ve only been on the earth for 21 years and I’ve been playing football ever since I was 5, so this is what I do. I can’t wait, everything, the setup, everything about everything here is perfect for me and I can’t wait,” Edwards-Helaire told the NFL Network in a recent interview.
At the end of the regular season with LSU in 2019, Clyde finished with 1,414 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 215 carries. His rushing yards tally is the third-best in college football history. Clyde also had 453 receiving yards and a touchdown with 55 receptions.
He helped LSU get a National Championship win over Clemson putting in an impressive display in the final. He was picked in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2020 NFL draft by Super Bowl LIV winners – the Kansas City Chiefs.
