Patrick Mahomes’ love for baseball is no secret. The fact that he is the son of former MLB pitcher Patrick Mahomes (Sr) meant that he spent time around baseball players throughout his childhood. Senior Mahomes played for the Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and Texas Rangers over the course of his MLB career.

He last played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2003 before announcing his retirement. On July 28 earlier this year, Mahomes revealed that he acquired a minority stake of MLB franchise, Kansas City Royals. The team is owned by the Shermans and last won the World Series Title in 2015.

Patrick Mahomes talks about his MLB business venture with Kansas City Royals

Mahomes recently appeared on a podcast with NBC Sports correspondent Peter King. The young shot-caller was asked about his decision to buy a minority stake in MLB team Kansas City Royals. Here’s what he said about his recent business venture and also reiterated his desire to play baseball sometime in the future.

He said, “Yeah, obviously, I have a love for baseball. I’ve always loved baseball since I was a little kid. I never thought I would be on the ownership side of it, thought I’ll be playing for the team…It was a thing where, obviously, playing football, I love football, I love the opportunities it has given me but I wanted to do something to be a part of baseball and I thought the best way to do that without making anybody on the Chiefs organization mad was to be on the ownership side of it.”
